Spring 2024:
Sign up to attend the Spring Campout February 10-11, 2024
For the Winter 2024 camp out, we have reserved a wood-heated cabin, Kiwanis Lodge. Plan to arrive anytime after 1 p.m. There are bunk beds provided, but please bring your own sleeping bags/bedding. Bathrooms are a short walk from the cabin. You can view the camp map here.
Meals:
For the winter campout, you will need to bring your own meals (dinner/breakfast/snacks). The lodge has a refrigerator and electric stove, and we will have access to a campfire ring. Meals are NOT provided by pack during this camp out.
Activities:
Weather permitting, we try to spend as much time outside as possible. This includes hiking to see a waterfall, lake and a small abandoned airplane. Scouts also like to play games (football, frisbee, soccer) and you are welcome to bring items for activities!
Cancellation:
If weather is not in our favor (such as snow emergencies) we will send out an email by 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, if we need to cancel.
Directions to Camp:
Take either St. Rt. 161 or St. Rt. 16 east to Newark. Turn north on St. Rt. 79. Go approximately 11 miles on St. Rt. 79 until you reach Township Road 210 (Rocky Fork Road). At the intersection of St. Rt. 79 and Township Road 210, there is a sign for Camp Falling Rock. Turn left onto Township Road 210, follow this to HoudeshellRoad. Turn left and proceed on it to the camp entrance.
Fall 2023:
Sign up to attend the Fall Campout
October 7 - 8, 2023 we will be camping at Phillips Field at Camp Lazarus. There is an entrance off of Winter Road where you can pull in to drop off gear. Once you have unloaded your car, you need to move it to the main parking lot off SR 23. We are only allowed to have a couple of leaders park their cars over night in case of emergency.
Bathrooms close to the site are outhouse style, but there are other facilities with flushing toilets close to the main entrance of camp.
Families are welcome to come and go as they need to, and join us when they can.
